Holds, joins, and refunds follow the same rules as our Refund Policy and Terms.
Do I get charged when I reserve a class?
No. Reserving a class puts a $9.99 hold on your card, not a charge. You're only billed if you actually join the class.
What happens if I can't make it?
Cancel before the class starts and the hold is released. You're not charged. If you simply don't show up, the hold isn't captured either, so you still won't be charged. It may take a few days to disappear from your statement depending on your bank.
Can I get a refund after I've joined a class?
Once you join, the $9.99 is charged and it's final since that class has already happened. The exception is if something went wrong on our end: a duplicate charge, a payment error, or a technical issue that stopped you from actually joining.
Is this a group class or private lesson?
Group. You'll be learning alongside other students at your level, not in a private lesson. That keeps it affordable and social, but it also means classes run on a fixed schedule and can't be moved just for one person.
Who are the instructors?
Experienced Canadian English and French teachers, not AI and not random volunteers. Most have 10+ years teaching students from diverse countries and backgrounds. You can see who is teaching before you reserve a spot.
What if the placement quiz puts me in the wrong level?
The quiz gives you a starting point, not a life sentence. If a level isn't the right fit, our team can adjust it.
What timezone are classes shown in?
Class times follow the timezone on your account. We set that from your browser when you enroll, and you can change it anytime in Account. Most classes are scheduled around Vancouver time, so if you’re far from the Pacific coast, give the times a quick check before you reserve.
Do I need to download anything?
No. You join through your SpeakCircle account, and it opens Zoom with your own personal link. Nothing shared, nothing to find in a group chat.
Is there a subscription or contract?
No. Pay per class, cancel anytime, no long term commitment.
How much does a class cost?
$9.99 per class, charged only when you join. That's the whole pricing model. No hidden fees, no upsells.
